Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

If you could ask the author/illustrator of this book one question, what would it be, and why?

First, I want to ask the author who designed the cover because it looks really good and suitable for the book. Second, I want to ask why Laurie Halse Andderson (the author) likes writing kind-of-sad books and it makes me wonder if she has / had depression and other stuff.
