Across the Nightingale Floor by Lian Hearn

After an attack on Tomasu's village he is left alone running from the most powerful lord of the three countries. Which is when he runs into Lord Otori Shigeru a very powerful and skilled swords man. Lord Shigeru takes Tomasu into his arms and brings him back to his castle town, Hagi where Tomasu learns the ways of an assassin and trains to take revenge. I honestly loved this book, I don't know there was just something about it that makes it so good. Some parts of it are calm and peaceful dialogues, and others are riveting suspenseful fight scenes. The contrast is so great but its all on the same book. It also has a really satisfying ending that lets you choose if you want to end it there or read the next book you would feel fine either way. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves fiction, and I am most definitely going to read the second.
