The War outside by Monica Hesse

I like how this book has two people tell their story instead of one because it makes more sense to look at an event in one point of view and look at that same event in other. When Margot lied so Haruko's family can leave Crystal City didn't make sense at first--but in Margot's perspective, she had heard things she probably shouldn't have heard and tried to protect the person she loved--by making her leave Crystal City so her family wouldn't have to get hurt by Mr. Kruse, who was mad at Haruko's mother (who was a doctor) for not trying harder to save his daughter (when Dr. Tanaka obviously tried everything she could do).
