Ada has never left her one room apartment because her mother is ashamed of her crippled clubfoot. Ada's worst fear is getting separated from her brother. So when Jamie gets sent on a train to wait out WWII in the countryside, Ada sneaks along with him. There they meet Susan and Ada slowly grows to trust. But what will happen if Mom comes back? This book was a great story set in WWII. I really related to the characters in it.
