The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants By: Ann Brashares

If you could rewrite one part of the story, what would you change?

Instead of rewriting the plot, I would change the format of the book. There are four good friends in the book, Lena, Tibby, Carmen, and Bridget, who all are the main characters. One day, the group of friends finds a pair of paints that fits all of them perfectly despite their different builds. Therefore, they believe the pants are magical. In the summer since Lena is going to Greece, Tibby is staying home, Carmen is going to North Carolina, and Bridget is going to Mexico, they all will be apart. They create the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, where they all become sisters to a pact that transports the pants to each sister during the summer. The pact also consists of ten rules. During the book, the story is told by switching from one character to another in the next paragraph. I often found that I was confused by who was telling the story. Instead of the current format, I would only change perspective after each chapter and name every chapter by which character’s perspective it was in. I feel that it would make the book easier to understand. Even without changing that part, I found the book to be very powerful and was glad to read it.
