Fake Blood by Whitney Gardner

Would you recommend this book? If so, who would you recommend it to, and why? If not, why not?

I would recommend Fake Blood by Whitney Gardner to anyone who enjoyed the Twilight saga or just books that have vampires in them in general, because this book is about vampires, vampire hunters, etc.


In this book, the main character, AJ, is going into middle school and he feels like he's the only kid who isn't tall yet, and also the only kid who didn't do anything fun over the summer. So he decides to go after his crush, Nia, who happens to have an obsession with vampires. When he finds out that she likes vampires so much, he tries to look and act like a vampire, only to find out that Nia is a vampire slayer.

The Complete Chi's Sweet Home by Konami Kanata is about a kitten who got lost from her mom and siblings and found a home with Yohei and his parants. Chi is a cute and curious and an adventurous little kitten who is looking for her mom. Will she find her mom read the series to find out.

The Prince and the Dressmaker By: Jen Wang

Would this book make a good movie? Why or why not? If yes, who should play the lead?

This book would make a good movie because all of the scenes are in graphic novel form so it would be easier to create as a motion picture. The book also deals with cross dressing and other topics that would be important to address to the public to spread awareness. 
I believe the lead would be split between Prince Sebastian/Lady Crystallia and Frances. The people who played their part would show some resemblance to them and have great acting skills. I do not have any specific actors/actresses in mind. While I support the way this book makes visible meaningful issues, I felt that the plot could have been less predictable.

If you could rewrite one part of the story, what would you change? If I could re write a part of the book I would change the part when Ursa steps on the chicken pig's tail because there is no such thing as a chicken pig and the chicken isn't really necessary. -Ashley

Zita The Space girl by Ben Hatke

What books would you recommend to the main character of the book and why? I would recommend one of the Harry Potter books by J.K Rowling, because Zita is a brave, and outgoing girl, and Harry Potter would make a great book for her to read because Harry is also very brave and many many adventures that would be interesting for her to read. -Ashley

My Hero Academia by Kohei Horikoshi

I really enjoyed My Hero Academia. The book is about a boy who lives in a world where most kids are born with a superpower, called a quirk. But the main character is born quirk-less. But then he meets All-Might, a hero with one of the greatest quirks of all time. He inherits All-Might's quirk, but now he must learn to use it. I highly recommend this book. -6th grade

Under The Moon, Isaac Goodheart

Would this book make a good movie? Why or why not? If yes, who should play the lead?

This book would make a good movie. I think that this book is has a good plot that seems like it should be a movie. The book is about a girl who has and abusive step-father and finally runs away, after he kills her kitten. The book seems that is would make a great movie and has the kind of suspence that a good movie needs to have.

Father and Son (Vater und Sohn) by E.O Plauen

These are a collection of comics. I'm not sure if you can get these books in the U.S, because I got the book in China. The comics are pretty funny, but the colorist could of done a better job coloring the book. (Monkeys ARE NOT GREEN!) And the English translations are pretty bad, but you could understand the story without the words.

Real Friends by Shannon Hale

If you were written into this book, what would your role be, and why?

This book was recommended to me by a couple of my friends. If I was written into this book, I would hope to be someone like Veronica. She is kind to everyone, and is open to new things. Even though she is a grade older than Shannon, she is still a good friend to her. Also, she inspires Shannon to be like her.

Would you recommend this book? If so, who would you recommend it to, and why? If not, why not?

I would definitely recommend this book, but I suggest you have to be okay with dark memories (such as rape, in this book), and read the actual book first, because even though the graphic novel is beautifully illustrated and everything, anything written in book form is usually better, in my opinion. It’s a really good book otherwise.
